WoW Wednesday

Here is a video from Trade Chat giving an overview of a lot of new things in WoW, Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone. Hopefully I will have something WoW related to say next week :)

PS The level 90 boosts for sale that she mentions are no longer appearing on live servers. It was first reported that someone saw the boost price on their account after the most recent maintenance. The claims have since been dispelled by Blizzard.

Recently

Hello everyone! Sorry I have been absent, things have been nasty around here. The flu has been running rampant, and I have been nurse to everyone in my house. I hope to get back to regular blogging this week.

Happenings: Like I just mentioned, everyone around here has been sick. I also got the heart/blood test results back on Tuesday. Apparently I have a great heart (which is great, but I don't understand because its still acting all wonky), but I am anemic, pre diabetic, and depressed. I was prescribed Zoloft for the depression, prenatal vitamins for the anemia (and prenatals are nasty, I hated taking them when I was pregnant), and to lose weight to stop the diabetes from coming. Sounds all well and good, except I had a really bad reaction to the Zoloft. The side effects of Zoloft alone are nasty, but I accidentally took another medication I was prescribed (one for migraines) while taking it, and the side effects got worse. So I spent a grand total of three days on Zoloft before I went back to the doctor telling him I think I have serotonin syndrome because of that (I have most of the symptoms). He blew me off, they're getting worse, and I have an appointment with an urgent care center for later tonight. Serotonin syndrome is serious stuff, and can be fatal if left untreated. I think I would already be getting better if my doctor had listened to me on Friday. I am hoping this trip to urgent care can get me fixed, because all of this has been really scary.

King of the Nerds! I am super disappointed that two of my picks have been sent home so far (Nicole last week, Katie this week). And I will let you in on a secret, I had Zachary listed on my original post as one of my picks for winner after the first episode, but took him off it before I published it because his actions in the second show were very off-putting to me. His actions since have still been very off-putting, but to be fair, I think he has a real shot at winning this season. He is a very strong competitor, he just lacks people skills. And did anyone else think that hug between Katie and Brian went on for a little long when she was saying goodbye? Is there some chemistry there? I think they'd be cute together....just throwing that out there.

Read: Not gonna lie, I haven't been reading much lately. I haven't even had time to read magazines, how sad is that?

Poppin' Off- The Lego Movie

My husband and I took our children to see The Lego Movie last weekend. It was awesome! I think I enjoyed the movie as much, if not more than, my children did! The characters were really great, and Batman (Will Arnett) really stole the show I thought. There were a lot of famous voices in the movie. Superman and Green Lantern were Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, and their friendship (or lack their of) was hilarious. That bit is what Jerry Seinfeld is accusing the movie of stealing from him, but I think he's just jealous of the the movie's success and trying to stay relevant (because he's not funny and nobody cares about him). I even tweeted about it, because I think he's that stupid, and its just a kid's movie.
Anyway, Jorma Taccone was Shakespeare, and the Lonely Island actually sing on the very catchy track from the movie "Everything is Awesome", along with Tegan and Sara. I sing the song all the time, it really is that addicting. Visually the movie is stunning, and depending on your age, you will more than likely see Legos from when you were a kid (I'm looking at you, 1980's Space Guy). The merchandise for the movie is great too- the blind bags and Lego sets are cool and McDonald's is currently giving Lego Movie cups as their Happy Meal toys.

I really recommend this movie, even if you don't have children. A lot of the humor is adult, but not in a way that children wouldn't understand if that makes sense. There is a lot of truth in the movie about how life has become (which a lot of people are calling anti-big business, but I wouldn't really go that far). And like I said, Batman pretty much stole the show.

Part of Everything is Awesome and the
rules the Lego guys are supposed to follow.

Liebster Award

Super excited- Usagi from Usagi in Wonderland gave me a Liebster Award. My first blog award!
So what is a Liebster Award exactly?

"Well, it is only an AWESOME award given to up and coming bloggers. Given by other up and coming bloggers. It's a cool way to find other blogs and feel like you are getting into the blogging stratosphere. It is simple, you get nominated by someone else, mention their page and a link to their blog in your Liebster Award Post, answer the 11 questions they give you, then tag 11 other nominees and give them a new set of 11 questions to answer."

Pretty neato, right?  Now on to the questions!

1. What is your favorite quote?
I have so many! Can I give my top three? "Keep moving forward." - Walt Disney, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."- Ferris Bueller, "Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans." - John Lennon

2. What is on your bucket list that you want to cross off this year?
I would really like to see Childish Gambino in concert (since I try to see him every time he tours and am never successful) and to visit a National Park.

3. If you were a pizza, what toppings would you be?
Ham and pineapple. I don't know why, that's just what speaks to me.

4. Which TV show are you loving so much right now and hope it doesn't get cancelled?
Pretty Little Liars and Almost Human. There isn't much left plot wise for PLL, so I can't imagine it going on much longer :( And I really hope that Almost Human finds its audience, because I really enjoy Karl Urban, er, the show.

5. Which film(s) are you looking forward to this year?
22 Jump Street and Captain America: The Winter Soldier are the two movies that first come to mind.

6. Have you see The Lego Movie yet? (BECAUSE IT IS AWESOME!!)
Yes! This Friday's Poppin' Off will be about it, but I loved it so much. Everything is awesome!

7. Who is your current celebrity crush? (Totally stole that from Gwen!)
My biggest ones (because I have a lot at the moment) are Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill (don't judge), Justin Timberlake and Karl Urban.

8. Are you a Zombie, Vampire, or Werewolf fan?
Zombies and Vampires are more my speed, I haven't been bitten by the Werewolf craze.

9. Why do you blog?
Once upon a time, I wanted to be a writer. I gave up on it to pursue other things, but blogging has been a way for me to start working on it again and to see if writing is something that I really do want to eventually try as a career.

10. What do you hope to accomplish with blogging?
Well, I hope to write things that people enjoy reading, and that might teach them something new. I wouldn't mind making money from it, but that's a tough bracket to crack into. And if I make some friends through blogging too, I certainly wouldn't mind. You can never have too many friends :)

11. What do you want to improve in 2014? (Photography skills, write some more, travel, etc.)
I hope to improve the look of my blog. It needs an actual background and style to it. I'd like to take more road trips and read more books. I'd also like to improve my leather working skills. I used to do a lot of leather crafting as a child, and have recently picked it up again. I'd like to get good enough at it to possibly start selling the things I make. I'd also like to work on my sewing machine skills. I don't sew on a machine as well as I do by hand.

So who do I give the Liebster Award to?
(I know we're supposed to choose eleven people, but most of the blogs I read have already done this!)

And here are their questions, should they choose to accept it:
1. When did you decide to start blogging?
2. What is your favorite dessert?
3. If you could have an all expenses paid trip to the convention of your choice, which one would it be?
4. If you could change the ending to one book, which book would it be and why?
5. Is there a movie you can quote all or almost all of?
6. Twilight movies- best thing for vampires, or the worst?
7. Cat person or dog person?
8. Favorite Saturday Night Live sketch?
9. Are there any superstitions you believe in?
10. If your country was divided into Districts like The Hunger Games, which District would you live in?
11. What was your favorite book when you were a child?

Superheroesque Launch

For the past few months, I have been a member of a great G+ group called Female Geek Bloggers. Its exactly what it sounds like, a place for geeky girl bloggers to hangout and share our work and other things. Through this group, I have had the chance to be exposed to so many new bloggers and their work, and one in particular is Mia Moore. I liked her blog as soon as I read it, and she cosplays Ramona Flowers something fierce. So I am happy to help promote a new blog that she is running with her friend Liz Locksley.

Superheroesque is a community where you can be your nerdiest self, and not be judged. Its a safe place to geek the hell out, and know that its totally okay to to so. From the site:

Superheroesque is a community about celebrating who you are and what you love. It’s a place where outrageous geekery is not only acceptable, but encouraged. No matter your race, size, shape, gender, creed, or background, everyone is welcome and encouraged to join the party. Superheroesque’s mission is to help you love who you are and work to be the best version of yourself possible. It’s not about perfection, it’s about progress and enjoying the process. We strive to create a community of not only self acceptance, but acceptance of those around you. Superheroesque is a home for everyone – a safe place for nerdy references, punny jokes, and critical geek culture discussions. Above all, Superheroesque is a judgment-free, positive zone of love and geeking out.

Today is the launch of the site, so I hope you'll all go stop by and check out its very first post (about being a "real" geek). And I can honestly say that I've already learned something new from the site. I had  no idea what Galentine's Day was! (I only watch Parks and Recreation sporadically, I guess I missed that episode) So Happy Galentine's Day to all of you, and Happy Launch Day to Superheroesque!

WoW Wednesday- Love Is In The Air.....

Happy Wednesday everyone! The Darkmoon Faire has just ended, but that doesn't mean that the merriment has to stop in Azeroth. Its now time to bust out your heartfelt goodies and enjoy Love Is In The Air (February 10th- 24th)! This is my favorite holiday in the game (next to Winter Veil), so I am super excited. There are plenty of quests and achievements to do. Plus some pets and mounts to get as well (that Big Love Rocket is one I've always wanted).
Peddlefeet, WoW's resident Cupid.

And since Peddlefeet is in town, that means that its awfully close to Valentine's Day in real life. The newly re-opened Blizzard store has put together a cute little gift guide for the Blizzard fan in your life, with a little help from Peddlefeet himself. My favorites from the guide are:

Funko Pop! Vinyl Illidan. Because I am still a little unhappy that I
didn't get the Shadow Illidan that Blizzard had at SDCC last year.

So that's about it for this WoW Wednesday. How do you do plan on spending Valentine's Day? Keeping it geeky or making it romantic? Or not doing anything because its just another day?

(In case you need some Valentine's. I found these on someecards.com)

Currently

I had a feeling I wouldn't keep up with these Currently/Recently posts, but I here I am trying another one :)

Reading: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I thought I'd be more into than I am, to be honest. Maybe its because I've been so distracted with other things that I haven't given it a fair shot. I might just start over (I'm not that far into it).

In the comic book front, I have been reading Rat Queens, Sex Criminals and Deadly Class. I am hoping to get my hands on Ms. Marvel, I've heard its wonderful.

Happenings:
I had to wear a heart monitor the other day for 24 hours. I couldn't shower with it, so that was gross. And the white things had a ton of adhesive on them, which I had happen to be sensititve to, so I was itchy and I now have welts where they were placed. Minimal complaints considering that I was wearing a freaking heart monior because my heart has been going super wacko lately. My doctor seems to be going towards stress/depression/anxiety as the cause. He didn't come right out and say it, but he sent home this huge questionnaire about it (not very discreet). But I also had to have a bunch of blood drawn, and I Googled some of what they were testing for. That wasn't smart, because it was for things like blood clots and toxins released from heart damage and lots of things relating to mortality rate. Made me a little anxious (okay, absolutely terrified). I still have some more tests to do, and I'll know everything by the end of the month. I figure that if something comes back really bad before then, they'll call me. So, no news is good news for now right? (Or that's what I'm telling myself at least).

But, on a super happy note, I got badges to San Diego Comic Con this morning :) Only for Saturday and Sunday, because that's what my husband and I had budgeted for. The four day preview night was still an option, because I got in right away, but it just wasn't in the cards for us financially. Maybe next year :) We're also seriously considering going to Phoenix Comic Con this year, so we will need money to make that trip as well.

Listening:

Dreamer by Ghost Town

Watching:
Pretty Little Liars. This season is so good. *Spoilers ahead* Now that we can see Ezra being A, isn't it even more creepy? He's still not working alone, but did he really make an alliance with Mona like it was hinted a few episodes ago, or is it someone else? And why is Ezra after Ali? Still so many questions. And I really can't wait for Aria to find out. She should've stayed with Jake.....

WoW Wednesday- So You Wanna Be On Catfish? And Other Things.

Happy Wednesday everyone! I am feeling a bit under the weather, which isn't horribly abnormal for me, except I am experiencing some flu-like symptoms which is gross.

Now that Lunar Festival is over, the Darkmoon Faire is in high gear! As always, its a great opportunity to earn achievements, do dailies for some xp and gold, and a chance to earn Darkmoon Faire tickets that you can use to purchase pets, mounts, and gear. Wowhead has a nice little guide here, telling you all about it. I'm saving up for the Darkmoon Dancing Bear because I think it'd be cool to have a bear mount that dances.

Super fun news if you watch Catfish or just want to be on teevee. They want WoW players for upcoming shows! I think the idea is great. I know I met someone who became a pretty important part of my life through WoW. But that teevee show is focused on love relationships, so I don't know how they're going to do friendships. Plus, even looking at the application, its like they want to find some romantic or secret between you, and I personally wouldn't put myself in that spot (though I would like to meet my WoW friend one of these days). I will definitely watch whatever episode they make from this though, I think it will be interesting to see some WoW players out from behind their screens :) Visit Wowhead for all the details and a cool giveaway for some Iron Skyweavers and Alterac Brew Pups.

What else is new? Oh, you can now purchase non digital items through the Blizzard store again. Yay! I've been wanting to buy an authenticator forever (because I constantly break my phones, and always having to remove authenticators from my account is a pain), but the option hasn't been their since they've put their store in beta. So go check out the store for all your digital and non digital Blizzard needs- its all there now.

Find It In Everything Giveaway Winner!

Congratulations Miranda on winning the Find It In Everything giveaway! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that entered, and hopefully you'll stick around now that the contest is over :) I have another planned for March, so stay tuned for that!

Keeping Up with the Cons- SDCC Pre-Registration and Badge Prices

I have been avoiding all the badge changes for San Diego Comic Con. They were a little confusing to me, and I worried that after all my years of trying and failing at getting badges (and then finally procuring them last year) were in vain, because the way it was originally worded, it was like they were giving up on their old system. I was like seriously, I'm going to have to battle it out again? Recently they have updated their preregistration page to include some more details that have put my mind a little more at ease. I still get to try and purchase badges before the masses, but apparently, they are randoming the waiting room. It will be open at 7am but sales won't start until 9am, and they say that your entry time doesn't matter (so rushing in at seven won't guarantee you a great spot.). I'm not sure how I feel about that. Also, every person is given a registration code, this is to avoid bots. You can only use it in one spot though, so no multi-devicing hoping for that great spot in the waiting room either. This I can get behind. I know people that try to do multiple devices for tickets to things like BlizzCon, and it bogs the system down so much that most of us have never have the opportunity to get near the buying option. Also, you're supposed to get that code from your badge, but CC is being nice and emailing it to everyone this year. Thank goodness, because my badge seems to have magically disappeared (I think my kids were playing with it, so who knows where it is now). Once you're in, you can purchase tickets for yourself and two other people. Make sure everyone has their own unique Member ID, you can't buy them a ticket without it. Also, make sure you have your credit card info ready, as you only have 15 minutes to enter all your information and purchase your badges. I know that doesn't seem like a lot of time, but if you just calm down and focus, you'll do just fine. Here is a link to the preregistration page for all the fine details, and make sure you check your Comic Con affiliated email frequently. Badge sales should be happening soon.

And if you still haven't heard, badge sales are a little different this year. There are no four day passes. If you want to attend all four days, you will have to select all four days individually (and hopefully they'll all be available when its your turn to purchase). Also, preview night is not offered as a stand alone badge. You have to purchase all four days to get preview night. It was explained that they are trying to get more people into seeing the Con. I get it. Its difficult to get into. Just breaking down they way they did, I think a lot of people had a heart attack.

I am hoping I can get badges again this year- I had a lot of fun last year (even though some of it was stressful) and I look forward to seeing what's there this year and hoping to experience more of what's offered at the convention. Are you going to SDCC this year?
